Patrice joined Airbus in 1990 through Airbus High School. He worked for 18 years as Aircraft Electrician in manufacturing on different programs including A320, A340, A380.
“What inspired me most when I decided to apply for Airbus was the international brand reputation and the prestige of its products recognized all over the world.” In 2010, he was appointed as Modification Closure coordinator in the Engineering in Change Management team. In this role, Patrice is responsible for managing the product changes at engineering level, to ensure modification closure on time and mandatory for aircraft assembly.
In parallel to his job, Patrice is actively supporting various deaf associations and decided he wanted to learn the language of signs. Because this course was a full time intensive one, Patrice had to temporarily leave his job for six months, but Airbus fully supported him in this new acquisition of competences. When he came back he was appointed as Ambassador for the Airbus Disability Mission where he has been in charge for the past 10 years. In addition, he also holds evening trainings at the “Promotion Sociale Airbus” in Toulouse.
Among his memorable times at Airbus, Patrice’s strongest experience was when he trained Lionel, a deaf student during a 2-year apprenticeship program. It was the first time that sign language was used at Airbus as a working language.
“Lionel successfully graduated and got hired. Together we proved the exemplary open mindset that you can find at Airbus. This sense of unity that makes you feel the We Are One spirit.” Patrice and Lionel created an inclusive sign language community within Airbus and in collaboration with their German colleagues. This transnational initiative has been recognized with an Award for Excellence in 2017.
Patrice’s main motivation to go to work is the fact of working in a very welcoming environment, where diversity and inclusion are the foundations of Airbus’s organization and philosophy. “It is essential for me to share and live the same values as my colleagues and managers. Knowing that Airbus is fully committed to develop an inclusive culture is fundamental to guarantee a positive day-to-day work experience.”
