Meet Modesto! Modesto joined Airbus 20 years ago and is now working on the A320 Family programme as Programme Manager for the power plant system on the A321XLR - a new variant of the A321neo.

What is your current role and where are you based?
I am currently based in Toulouse where I act as the Power Plant Project Leader on XLR development, more specifically on propulsion systems.

Ok, for those of us who haven’t figured it out, what does the XLR stand for?
The “XLR” stands for “Extra Long Range”. And the aircraft itself is essentially an A321neo

What do you love most about working with the A321XLR programme?
I would have to say the leadership and team spirit.

What inspired you to be a part of the aerospace sector?
I decided to join the aerospace industry because I wanted to contribute to the development of superior technological products that provide services and solutions to customers worldwide.

Why did you decide to join the company? 
Airbus’ remarkable reputation was part of the reason why I joined. Career stability and the company’s development opportunities were also contributing factors.

What do you enjoy the most about your job? 
The work environment is great. Not only do you get to collaborate with employees representing multiple roles and responsibilities, but you are also provided with the tools needed to develop your confidence at work.

Tell us about some memorable experiences from your career at Airbus. What made it so special and unforgettable? 
I love the team building events - they are a great way to meet colleagues outside of the work environment and to build relationships.

Is there any important advice you would like to give?
Never stop moving forward. Focus on your objectives and find opportunities to make it happen.

What are the benefits of working at Airbus?  
There are several benefits that come with working for Airbus. Some of these include the potential for development, the value placed on wellbeing, the emphasis on safety at the workplace. There are also numerous networking opportunities within the company.

In what way do the values of Airbus relate to your own?
I relate to “respect”, “customer focus”, “reliability”, and “working with integrity”.

Do you have any hobbies? How do you enjoy spending your free time?
My hobbies include karate and ping-pong. When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending my free time with family and friends.

Any fun facts you’d like to share? 
I designed and built my house by myself, pretty much managing the project from start to finish!
