Airbus Defence and Space is proud to support and foster this year's SpaceUp edition in Toulouse. As evidences of our deep involvment, Pascal Reigner (Airbus) will lead a conference about our programme JUICE and we’re also delighted to announce that 15 SpaceUp attendees will be given the opportunity to visit a cleanroom at our facility in Toulouse,on Friday, February 3rd at 5:00 PM CEST. Those cleanrooms are where Eurostar 3000telecommunications satellites, as well as some Earth observation satellites, are assembled, tested and configured for “Flight” (installation of the solar wings, antennas, thermal protections, …) before they leave for the launch site.

During this visit, you will see the vaccum chambers used to replicate the extreme temperatures and vacuum conditions of deep space. You will also see where the vibrations tests take place and the acoustic chamber where the launch conditions are simulated. This is also where the MISTRAL room is located, in which the radio-electric performances are tested in complete isolation from the outside. And finally, you will also see the assembly means of the solar wings, and the zero G system in which they can be unfolded.

What is SpaceUp?

SpaceUp is a space unconference, also known as a user-generated conference or a BarCamp, that will take place in Toulouse, February, 4th and 5th.Participants will decide the topics, schedule, and structure of the event. While other unconferences have been held about technology, science, transit, and, even, cupcakes, the SpaceUp series is focused solely on space exploration.

There are no spectators at SpaceUp, only participants. Attendees are expected to give a demo, present a talk or participate in a panel or roundtable in English. For those who couldn't attend both days, don't forget to notify it during the registration (no discounted price).

During the SpaceUp event, you'll have the opportunity to meet some Airbus Recruitment Team representatives and talk about our jobs opportunities.

How can I win my clean room visit?

The SpaceUp team will pick the lucky few out of the people who have registered to SpaceUp Toulouse before January 29th at midnight, so hurry up and and register for the clean room visit here.

Please note that to be allowed on this tour, you have to be a national of a European Union member state. We will also ask you to commit to showing up at the Airbus DS facility in Toulouse at 4:30 PM on February, 3rd. Last but not least, you will not be allowed to take pictures.
