A350 XWB debuts in Brazil’s Campinas airport

World’s newest wide-body aircraft visits Azul’s home base

Arriving from Sao Paulo, the A350 XWB landed in Campinas, Viracopos International Airport, Brazil for the first time ever as part of its Demo Tour across the Americas. Flight test aircraft MSN 2 will travel to Bogota on July 9th, where it will complete the Latin America portion of its Demo Tour before heading to the United States.
Following the arrival in ‘Viracopos International Airport, Airbus welcomed senior Azul Linhas Aereas airline representatives, government officials and media aboard the A350 XWB. Azul will be one of the early airlines to operate the A350 XWB, with five leased aircraft from Aercap,
The A350 XWB is the latest addition to the market-leading Airbus Widebody product line. Offering its customers 25 percent reduction in fuel-burn, the all-new mid-size long-range A350 XWB Family comprises three versions from 276 to 369 seats. The A350 has carbon fibre fuselage and wings and sets new standards in terms of passenger experience, operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness. At the end of June 2015, the A350 XWB had won 781 firm orders worldwide.
For passengers, the A350 XWB brings new levels of in-flight comfort, with an extra-wide cabin offering more personal space in all classes, including 18 inch wide seats as standard in economy class. For premium classes, airlines can install the most comfortable lie-flat seats in optimised layouts, while passengers in all cabins will enjoy the latest in-flight entertainment and connectivity systems. The quiet cabin also features wide panoramic windows and large overhead stowage compartments, as well as the latest draught-free air conditioning system with precision temperature control.
The flight test A350-900 MSN 2 is fitted with a two class cabin layout with 42 lie-flat business class seats in a four abreast configuration and 210 economy-class seats with 18 inch wide seats set at nine abreast. The aircraft is also fitted with special on-board flight test equipment.
With more than 950 aircraft sold and a backlog of almost 500 aircraft, 27 customers operate nearly 600 Airbus aircraft throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. In May, Airbus celebrated its 500th aircraft delivery in Latin America.
