Bernhard Weigl is Head of Aviation Safety and Quality, a role he has held since April 2019 following the merger of the two business functions, and a member of the Airbus Helicopters Executive Committee since September 2019.

In 2016, Bernhard became Head of Quality following more than two decades of experience in several leadership roles at Airbus Helicopters. In that role, he was responsible for reviewing Airbus Helicopters’ Quality vision & strategy, organization, scope and staffing to reinforce Quality as the main contributor for Aviation Safety, customer satisfaction and competitiveness

Prior to holding this role, Bernhard was responsible for the final assembly lines and prototypes of the H135 & H145 Programmes, with an enlarged scope from 2015 onwards on the complete FALs of light and medium size helicopters until end of 2016.

Bernhard joined Airbus Helicopters in 2002 in the Customer Service business function, where he pursued his career in different management positions – from MRO to Supply Chain / Spares and stepped into the role as Service Chief Engineer in 2010. During this period he was given an additional mission to set up a NH90 Material Support Organization at NHI.

Bernhard began his professional career in 1982 in the German Airforce, where he studied Aerospace Technology, served as Technical Officer and as Head of Technical Operations in a Fighter Bomber Wing. Additionally he was a member of the transnational NATO Tactical Evaluation Team. After the end of his military career in 1994 Bernhard worked in the Manufacturing Management and Logistics for two medium sized German Companies.
