Our commitment to accountability
True accountability is achieved when every member of Airbus feels responsible for upholding our pillars. This is about more than following rules; it is about fostering an environment of trust, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Our commitment to accountability is built on three key pillars: empowering our people to speak up and listen up, ensuring all concerns are addressed thoroughly and fairly, and providing continuous training to embed our values into our daily work. These elements work together to create a resilient culture where integrity is a shared responsibility.
Shared accountability
The promotion of our corporate values and culture of integrity and compliance is translated into annual objectives for all Airbus employees, including senior management. A harmonised set of dedicated ethics and compliance goals are included in the annual objectives of our global workforce.
We also have a network of Ethics & Compliance Representatives and Export Control Points of Contact, spanning
Airbus and the two divisions, all functions and regions, which is responsible for promoting a culture of integrity and compliance. Although members of these networks are not dedicated full-time compliance experts, they serve as the “go-to” individuals for business ethics, anti-bribery and corruption, export control and trade sanctions matters within their respective teams.
Speaking Up and Listen Up
We are committed to maintaining a ‘Speak Up’ culture where employees feel safe to raise concerns without fear of retaliation. We encourage open dialogue. Several reporting mechanisms are available to Airbus stakeholders, starting with managers, through HR and Ethics & Compliance, including whenever reporters wish to provide information confidentially or anonymously through the Airbus OpenLine.
At the same time, ‘Listen Up’ to concerns, escalate when appropriate and provide feedback accordingly is key to sustain our culture. Airbus supports employees who refuse to act unethically where such actions may result in a loss of business or other disadvantage to the company.
We protect those who raise concerns in good faith, as their courage is essential to maintaining our integrity.
Internal investigations
Every concern raised is taken seriously. We have a dedicated policy and procedure to ensure all instances of misconduct are investigated promptly and objectively. These investigations are conducted fairly, respecting the rights of all involved, and led by trained team members of the Ethics & Compliance department. Feedback is provided to the reporter and follow up is performed through an access-limited database.
When misconduct is confirmed, we take disciplinary action and conduct a root cause analysis to identify and address weaknesses, helping us to strengthen our Ethics & Compliance Programme. This process is crucial for building trust and maintaining a fair work environment.
Training and awareness
Accountability is reinforced through continuous learning. All Airbus employees are required to complete annual Ethics & Compliance training to ensure they understand the standards that apply to their roles. In-depth classroom training is delivered across a number of functions to employees considered as highly exposed, including senior management. This is complemented by awareness campaigns and strong leadership from the top, ensuring that our commitment to integrity is understood and practised across the company.
