The profits from the auction of A380 parts, organised by Airbus on 13, 14 and 15 October 2022, will essentially be donated to the Airbus Foundation Fund. How will this philanthropic institution use this money?

The Airbus Foundation aims to facilitate charitable initiatives worldwide leveraging an international network of employees, associations and other organisations.  Founded as a corporate foundation under French law in December 2008, it is a separate legal entity which acts in a non-profit-making capacity, supporting general interest projects according to the missions defined by its Board.

Developing partnerships with NGOs and associations around the world to deliver its missions, the Foundation prioritises its actions around 3 strategic areas

Firstly, in the area of youth development, its main objective is to inspire the next generation to prepare for their future through aeronautics, space and STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).

The second area of focus for the Airbus Foundation is the environment. It supports NGO partners in their efforts to combat climate change and preserve natural habitats.

Finally, the Foundation is active in the humanitarian field, supporting disaster relief and emergency response work through the use of Airbus products, services and innovations. For example, in June 2021, the Foundation became involved in the fight against COVID-19 in Nepal. In collaboration with the Crisis and Support Centre (CDCS) of the French Ministry of European and Foreign Affairs, the Airbus Foundation sent 7 tonnes of medical equipment from Toulouse, France, to Kathmandu, Nepal, using an Airbus A350 test aircraft.

The proceeds from the auction of the A380 parts will be used for humanitarian missions.

We are delighted to be able to benefit from initiatives like this auction. Thanks to these donations, we can do even more to help populations impacted by natural and manmade disasters

Rachel Schroeder, Managing Director Airbus Foundation
