Collaborative combat across all domains
An integrated environment
One of the most critical challenges in a crowded and contested battlespace is the ability to connect and communicate securely across all domains. In addition, the battlespace has multiple, diverse and dynamic data sets to interact with and base decisions on, while data consumption and demand continues to grow.
Multi-domain operations are all about having the right information at the right time, enabling operations to be conducted with well-integrated and resilient capabilities. To meet these challenges, we are working towards a more integrated, digitised, collaborative and agile operational environment across all domains. Our roadmap for developing new technologies and solutions is focused and evolving to meet and exceed the needs of our customers.

Airbus Defence and Space together with Northrop Grumman Corporation and seven industrial players forming the ASPAARO (Atlantic Strategic Partnership for Advanced All-domain Resilient Operations) team have been selected by the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) to conduct one of three Risk Reduction and Feasibility Studies.
What is the Multi-Domain Combat Cloud?
The multi-domain combat cloud enhances defence power through information superiority. It is a decentralised, cyber-resilient network spanning air, land, sea, space and cyber domains using cloud-based technology.
By linking forces in real time, it ensures that information is shared quickly and efficiently. Developed in line with NATO's C3 taxonomy, it delivers the right information to the right asset at the right time.
The game changer for future combat
The multi-domain combat cloud, based on its system-of-systems design, will be the strategic game-changer for future warfighting.
The multi-domain combat cloud will enable manned and unmanned teaming assets to fight together in all domains under human control, making military operations more efficient and effective.
Accelerating the mission cycle
The Multi-Domain Combat Cloud provides greater flexibility and dynamic responsiveness to real-time situational changes. It enables digitised, collaborative operations for agile combat across all domains:
- Increased mission effectiveness
- A common information space for all actors
- Multi-platform engagement
- Cyber capabilities Intelligent connectivity across and within all domains
- Advanced application layers
- Distributed processing and accessibility for close collaboration
Strengthening Defence through information superiority
Airbus works with its customers to ensure improved interoperability, resilience and sovereignty through affordable and adaptable solutions.
Recognised for its system-of-systems expertise, Airbus is able to develop flexible and cyber resilient architectures and solutions with its partners. As a key player in both the Future Combat Air System (FCAS) and Alliance Future Surveillance and Control (AFSC) programmes, Airbus is shaping the future of C2 in multinational and NATO frameworks.

What is the Multi-Domain Combat Cloud?
What is the Multi-Domain Combat Cloud?
Gilles Bertrand, Head of Multi-Domain Combat Cloud at Airbus Defence and Space explains what MDCC is and how it revolutionises the way military operations are conducted.
Future warfighting will require a far higher degree of automation for information management and integration of military services and branches throughout the whole Mission Cycle. With its System of Systems design, MDCC is the strategic game-changer of future warfighting enabling collaborative combat.
MDCC makes military operations and decision making more efficient through data collection from multiple sources, from active and passive sensors. Actionable intelligence is reached through merging data utilising artificial intelligence and machine learning. -
