Santiago, 10 April, 2024 – Airbus inaugurated its second A320 full-flight simulator at the Airbus Chile Training Centre (ACTC), located within the Airbus facilities in the Tobalaba Airfield in Santiago.

The 1,700-square-meter facility offers training to Airbus operators in Chile and the Southern Cone and houses full-suite A320 pilot training equipment. Since its inauguration in 2021, the ACTC has trained around 1,000 pilots from Chilean carriers LATAM Airlines, SKY and JetSMART, supporting the operations and ramp-up of A320 Family aircraft in their growing fleet.

Airbus predicts in its Global Services Forecast for Latin America a need for more than 30,000 pilots to be trained over the next two decades in the region. As such doubling training capacities by adding a second simulator located in Chile will support the growing training needs of Airbus’ airline customers.

The A320 Family is the world’s most popular single-aisle aircraft family and the preferred choice among airlines, from the low-cost carriers to new business models, taking benefits of new levels of performance and passenger comfort.

The ACTC is part of the Airbus global flight training network consisting of 20 locations around the world. This extensive and growing global network enables Airbus to offer a complete flight training package, allowing its customers to benefit from its training expertise closer to their home base.

With more than two decades of direct presence in Chile, Airbus is the aerospace market leader, with 56% market share of the country’s commercial aircraft fleet, 11 military aircraft in service, one Earth Observation Satellite and more than 140 helicopters flying in the country.
