Christian Unrath (50), previously Chief Representative of Airbus Group Bank GmbH, has been appointed Chairman of the Managing Board of the bank by the company’s Supervisory Board with effect from 3 January 2017. Christian Unrath was responsible on the part of Airbus for the acquisition of the then Salzburg München Bank – known since 23 December 2014 as Airbus Group Bank GmbH – and became the company’s Chief Representative directly after the purchase in December 2014.

Norbert Kickum (62) was appointed Chairman of the Managing Board of the bank in December 2014 and will leave Airbus Group Bank of his own accord on 31 January 2017.

“We very much regret Norbert Kickum’s decision to leave the bank at this stage,” said Harald Wilhelm, CFO of Airbus and Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Airbus Group Bank. “The Supervisory Board would like to thank him wholeheartedly for his outstanding work. Without Norbert Kickum, the bank’s reorientation, the incredible success of which has been well above Airbus’ expectations, would probably never have been possible. At the same time, I am pleased that Christian Unrath, an asset-based lending specialist and outstanding Airbus expert, will be assuming Norbert Kickum’s responsibilities as Managing Director. Starting on 1 February 2017, Christian Unrath will also become Chairman of the Managing Board of Airbus Group Bank GmbH and will head the bank together with Managing Director Franz Plesser. This development in the bank’s top management will have no impact on the bank’s business model and will therefore not result in any changes for customers.”
