In order to build a better future, you must be an idealist – luckily we are not the only ones.

Open collaboration with the best partners is allowing us to accelerate the future of flight. It underpins our approach in delivering new technologies and systems, fast.

Siemens

At our E-Aircraft Systems Test Lab, we have collaborated with Siemens to form a 200-strong team of curious and brilliant minds to advance engine technology that will enable radically more efficient propulsion systems. Our joint roadmap projects that a 100-seater hybrid-electric aircraft will be able to cover 1,000 km by 2030.

These aims are ambitious and cannot be achieved using conventional technologies. In combining with Siemens we are accelerating the development of various propulsion systems with power classes ranging from a few 100 kilowatts up to 10-plus megawatts, powering transformational projects from urban air mobility to international hybrid-electric flight.

Palantir

Technology partnerships work. In July 2015, we partnered Palantir to investigate potential solutions for value creation through production and aircraft data. The result was five projects, ranging from planning to predictive maintenance. Real-life data-driven solutions from this collaboration are now helping our industry grasp the transformative impact of digitisation.

Microsoft

Adopting innovative technologies to augment our teams is also a key area of focus. Our agreement with Microsoft gives us extended access to the HoloLens mixed reality headsets before their commercial release. The technology brings virtual objects into the physical world, making them appear and behave as solid objects. This has huge potential for disruption and so we’re using this partnership to rapidly understand its potential impact and benefits to the aerospace industry.

The collaboration has already brought tangible solutions at different stages of the production process, from planning to testing.

Bringing mobility and new ways to connect users to digital information could significantly speed up decision-making. Our partnerships will get us there sooner.
