Using AI in your application

How we expect you to use AI, or not, during your application - and how we use AI during the recruitment process.

Can I use AI tools when preparing my job application for Airbus?

Yes, you can. We recognise that AI has become a valuable tool in many areas, including the job application process. Airbus encourages the responsible use of AI as an aid during the drafting and initial preparation stages of your CV and covering letter.

What are some responsible ways to use AI when preparing my application?

AI can be very helpful for the following:

  • Generating initial drafts and exploring different ways to phrase your content.
  • Identifying relevant keywords from the job description for the role and industry.
  • Improving clarity and grammar by tidying up your writing.
  • Structuring your CV and covering letter effectively.
  • Brainstorming examples from your past experience that align with the job requirements.

What influence should AI have in my application?

While we encourage using AI as a helping hand in the preparation stages, we prefer that the final version of your application reflects your own original work and showcases your personal capabilities.

Are there any uses of AI that Airbus considers inappropriate or ineffective?

Yes. We discourage the following uses of AI:

  • Submitting AI-generated responses as your own: Avoid copying and pasting large sections of AI-written text without significant personal input for your final documents.
  • Using AI during interviews: Do not rely on AI to generate responses during live interviews (spoken or written). We want to hear your authentic thoughts and how you think on your feet.
  • Creating entirely generic applications: Avoid using AI to produce a completely generic covering letter that fails to specifically address Airbus or the role you are applying for.
  • Fabricating experiences: You must not prompt AI to invent skills or experiences that you do not actually possess.
  • Over-reliance on AI for tone and voice: Ensure your application retains your own personality and unique voice rather than allowing AI to dictate the entire style and tone.

Does Airbus use Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the recruitment process?

At Airbus, we are exploring AI to enhance our efficiency but we are committed to keeping human judgment at the heart of recruitment and talent acquisition. Airbus utilises AI technologies in a supportive and administrative capacity - such as scheduling interviews. Where our team searches for candidates using platforms, like LinkedIn or Indeed, these may use an AI to aid searching.

Please note that for jobs in Canada and China there are ongoing trials that means that AI is being used to help with resume/CV filtering. This activity is currently being trialed and is supervised by real-life recruitment specialists.

Where is AI used in the Airbus hiring process today?

AI is currently limited to behind-the-scenes drafting support for our Talent Acquisition team:

  • Job description creation: An initial draft of the job description, and associated advertising, may have been generated by an AI model. Job descriptions and associated advertising is always reviewed, amended, and approved by a human before publication.
  • Candidate correspondence: The initial draft of confirmation emails or interview invitations may have been drafted using an AI tool (like Gemini). However, every piece of communication is reviewed, personalised, and receives the essential "human touch" before it is sent to you.

Please note that for jobs in Canada and China there are ongoing trials that means that AI is being used to help with resume/CV filtering. This activity is currently being trialed and is fully supervised by real-life recruitment specialists.

Are interviews conducted by an AI bot or virtual agent?

In some roles Airbus may use a video interview step, during this step candidates are presented with questions and need to record answers using their devices camera and microphone. These solutions do not use AI. The platform displays written questions, which candidates read and respond to by recording a short video response. Video interviews are reviewed by a human.

If you are selected after submitting your video interview, you will be invited to an interview with the hiring manager - whether your interview is virtual or on one of our sites, you will always speak with a real person.

Please note:

  • We do not use AI agents or automated bots for phone-based candidate interactions or interviews. If you receive such a call it may be fraud, please report it to emsom@airbus.com
  • During an interview, managers may use AI tools, like Gemini, to help with transcription or note-taking. This allows them to focus more on you. These notes are always verified for accuracy and are only used as a reference for the final human-led hiring decision.
