Commercial Aircraft in India
Airbus entered the commercial aviation market in India with the introduction of the A300B2 in the Indian Airlines fleet in 1976. Today, Airbus is India’s aircraft of choice, accounting for about 72% of the domestic commercial aviation market in the country. These include the single-aisle A320 Family that has democratised air travel in India, and the latest A350 wide-body aircraft ordered by Air India & IndiGo that promises to transform long-haul travel by Indian carriers.

Helicopters in India
OUR PRODUCTS & SERVICES
Airbus’ association with India goes back to the early 1960s with the industrialisation of the Cheetah and Chetak helicopters by the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. Today, Airbus Helicopters is the market leader in the Civil & Parapublic sector in India & South Asia with almost 40% share and an in-service civil fleet of more than 100 helicopters. Defence and Space in India
Airbus is playing a key role in developing India’s aerospace and defence ecosystem, further contributing to the Indian Government’s vision of 'AatmaNirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India). In 2021, the Indian Air Force (IAF) signed a contract to procure 56 C295 aircraft to replace its AVRO fleet. As per the contract, 40 aircraft will be manufactured and assembled in partnership with Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. at the Final Assembly Line (FAL) in Vadodara, Gujarat. Remaining 16 will be delivered to the IAF in ‘fly-away’ condition from Airbus’ FAL in Seville, Spain.
