Raising the bar
The first new Airbus helicopter model developed in almost a decade, the H140 was designed in close collaboration with leading HEMS (helicopter emergency medical services) operators. Powered by twin Safran Arrius 2E engines producing 700 shp each, the H140 delivers best-in-class payload-to-range performance in the 3-tonne category.
The H140 also features the proven five-blade bearingless main rotor from the H145, for reduced vibration, and an innovative T-tail design offers a performance advantage at a magnitude of up to 80 kg of additional lift in hover conditions, for no invested engine power. The H140 also utilises Helionix avionics that have fleet commonality across the H135, H145, H160, and H175, that allow it to bridge the capability gap between light twin and medium helicopters.
Mission capable
The H140 was purpose-built for helicopter emergency medical services through extensive collaboration with HEMS operators worldwide. It features a large cabin space, large windows, and an optimised cabin layout that can accommodate up to six passengers comfortably.
It integrates the best features of multiple helicopter models and has the best payload/range in its class. And, rear loading capabilities with a completely flat, unobstructed floor from cockpit to clamshell doors, allow for enhanced patient care access, flexible medical equipment configurations and stretcher systems (whether for primary missions, intensive care or transport incubators).
Efficient design
The H140 features a wide range of innovations, including a five-blade bearingless main rotor, new powerful engines and a new T-shaped tail boom that provides 80 kg additional lift in hover. Additionally, its aerodynamically optimised Fenestron reduces sound levels.
Powerful performance
The H140, powered by the Safran Arrius 2E 700 shp engine, offers the best payload/range in its class . The two engines of the helicopter are managed by a dual channel full-authority digital engine control (FADEC) system, guaranteeing unprecedented level of performance in all engines operative (AEO) operations and considerable power reserves in one engine inoperative (OEI) scenarios.
Enhanced safety
The H140 features Helionix, the Airbus Helicopters avionic system that also equips the H135, H145, H160 and H175. Helionix, in addition to the 4-axis autopilot, offers an innovative cockpit layout to enhance situational awareness, reducing the pilot workload and increasing the safety during the mission.
H140 operators will benefit from an optimised maintenance plan that harmonises airframe and engine maintenance schedules and allows longer intervals between inspections, reducing the helicopter's operating and maintenance costs.
