Cádiz, Spain, 8 October 2026 - Airbus has completed the project to consolidate its activities in Cádiz, with the inauguration of a renovated plant in El Puerto de Santa María which will strengthen its industrial footprint in Spain, expand its innovation capacity, and ensure the long-term competitiveness of the site.
As part of this strategic project, all Airbus employees from Puerto Real and El Puerto de Santa María have been integrated into a single team. In addition, the production lines for the A320, A330, and A350 programmes have been relocated, and innovative technological developments have been introduced to achieve ramp up targets. The facility features a high level of automation in its processes, strengthening its competitiveness and positioning.
“The Airbus plant in Cádiz has become a model of multi-product excellence, where commercial aviation and defense successfully coexist. Here, the talent of our people joins forces with state-of-the-art carbon fiber technology, creating powerful cross-divisional synergies. By leveraging shared innovations, Cádiz forms a vital strategic hub for our current operational momentum and for the future,” said Lars Wagner, CEO Commercial Aircraft at Airbus.
Airbus has carried out an expansion of 4,000 m² of industrial space to house these production lines and has acquired an additional plot of land for logistical use. Furthermore, new buildings have been constructed inside the plant to accommodate various services, and areas of industrial space have been converted into office space.
The project demonstrates Airbus’ ability to lead and successfully execute highly complex industrial transitions through social dialogue, transparency, and institutional collaboration. With this milestone, Airbus not only guarantees the complete retention of all industrial jobs, but also strategically positions its new Cádiz plant for the future, consolidating its role as a key driver for the creation of high-skilled jobs in the aerospace sector.
The Airbus plant in Cádiz currently employs 750 people and manufactures parts for the A320, A330, and A350 as well as components for Airbus Defence and Space programmes such as the A400M, MRTT, C295, and Eurofighter.
