Meet Luigi

Engineering Quality Assurance Manager
Airbus Helicopters
Donauwörth, Germany

Ciao! Tell us who you are and where you're from!

Hello, my name is Luigi Parrotta and I'm from Genova!

What's the best part about working for a global company like Airbus?

The best part of working in Airbus are the possibilities. You can work in different departments and see the product from the initial idea until full realisation in flight!

From Italy to Germany: what has been the biggest culture shock (good or bad)?

The biggest culture shock moving from Italy to Germany has been the directness in communication. While it can sometimes feel abrupt compared to Italian conversational nuances, it's also incredibly efficient and clear, which I've come to appreciate in a professional setting. In Germany, we plan meetings to plan meetings!

If you could pick one word to describe your job, what would it be?

Dynamic!

What's one thing you've worked on at Airbus that you're most proud of?

I'm most proud of working on next-generation technologies.

What’s the biggest difference between working in Italy versus Germany?

In Germany working time is flexible.

What advice would you give to a student who wants to work in aerospace?

The aerospace industry is full of opportunities. Don’t look to be hired immediately for the position you want most  -  you can get it once you’ve  started in the company.

How do you stay connected to your Italian roots while working abroad?

I stay connected to my Italian roots by cooking Italian food, keeping in touch with family and friends, and visiting when I can. I also try to incorporate Italian customs and traditions into my daily life.
