Herning, Denmark, 19 August 2026 – Airbus Helicopters and Terma A/S have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at deepening their long-standing industrial partnership as part of European industry’s strategic autonomy. The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation on upcoming helicopter campaigns while advancing operational sovereignty and high-tech manufacturing in Denmark.

The new MoU outlines key focus areas for expanding the integration of Danish technology into Airbus Helicopters’ global supply chains and platform services:

  • Advanced Manufacturing: Joint production initiatives spanning composite and precision metal components.
  • System Integration: Integration of specialised technologies, including Terma’s Electronic Warfare Systems, across helicopter lines.
  • Research & Technology: Collaborative development of next-generation rotorcraft technologies.
  • Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO): Long-term fleet support, maintenance, and technician training programs.

A central priority of the agreement is the development of localised MRO infrastructure to support the Danish Armed Forces. Airbus Helicopters and Terma are exploring pathways to leverage the newly formed Joint Venture between Terma and Kongsberg Aviation Maintenance Services (KAMS) as a regional Nordic maintenance hub. This initiative aims to ensure high aircraft availability and establish a self-reliant domestic support ecosystem.

"Terma is a trusted partner of choice, and this MoU reflects our deep commitment to Denmark’s defense industry and the guidelines of the Danish Business Authority," said Thomas Hein, Head of Europe Region at Airbus Helicopters. "By leveraging our world-class rotorcraft platforms alongside Terma’s engineering capabilities and the new Terma/KAMS Joint Venture, we are strengthening local operational availability while embedding Danish innovation even deeper into our global supply network."

"Our ongoing work with Airbus Helicopters has demonstrated the clear strength of this partnership," states Oscar Cosman Brøndum, Vice President for Partnerships & Industrial Cooperation at Terma. "Combining Airbus’s global reach with our specialised technologies and sovereign MRO infrastructure positions us to deliver unprecedented autonomy, technical capability, and sustainable industrial growth for Denmark and European security."
