Airbus is further improving the welcome for airline customer personnel who monitor the build-up of A320 Family aircraft at its final assembly facilities around the world, with the latest initiative being a new SkyLounge meeting point at the Hamburg-Finkenwerder site in northern Germany.

Outfitted with furnishings in greens and greys, the SkyLounge offers a comfortable environment for airline technical representatives assigned to keep track of the final assembly process involving their new jetliners at Hamburg-Finkenwerder.
The SkyLounge has a coffee bar, snacks, television and access to technical journals for the approximately 40 customer technical representatives on-site during the final assembly and acceptance phase of their aircraft. This offers a common area to relax and meet, which is in addition to the individual offices assigned to them.

Airbus created the SkyLounge on the upper floor of Hangar 9, a structure that houses the most recent of Hamburg-Finkenwerder’s three final assembly lines for Airbus’ best-selling single-aisle A320 Family.

An 82-inch touch screen in the SkyLounge enables customers to access information about the assembly status of their aircraft at Hamburg-Finkenwerder, and to identify the Airbus Acceptance and Delivery Manager responsible for their new aircraft. A direct view of Hangar 9’s final assembly line is available via the SkyLounge’s window, while access is only steps away to the adjacent Hangar 14 – which contains the other two A320 Family final assembly lines arranged side-by-side at the German industrial site.

The SkyLounge is part of Airbus’ goal to ensure continued customer satisfaction as it ramps up single-aisle family production output to record levels. Another action at Hamburg-Finkenwerder involves the A320 Family aircraft delivery centre – located separately in Building 100 – which continues to undergo upgrades that include the addition of a restaurant, meeting room and overall renovation.

Based on the experience at Hamburg-Finkenwerder, Airbus will be introducing additional customer-oriented improvements to its other worldwide single-aisle final assembly sites, situated in Toulouse, France; Tianjin in China; and the newest facility at Mobile, Alabama – all of which are contributing to attaining the highest A320 Family delivery rates ever.

Located on the upper floor of Hamburg-Finkenwerder’s Hangar 9, the new SkyLounge provides a welcoming setting for airline technical representatives who are on-site to monitor the final assembly process for their A320 Family aircraft.
