What is your name, job title, and where are you based?

My name is Candice and I’m the Service Delivery Manager, based at the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), Edinburgh, Australia.

Define your job title in one sentence

I’m responsible for ensuring that the Airbus service on the P-8A Poseidon Program for RAAF reflects our global reputation for commitment to quality. 

What’s one thing that makes your job exciting or special?

I’m lucky enough to work on a Royal Australian Air Force base, collaborating directly with RAAF personnel on their P-8A fleet. Working side-by-side with the RAAF in this way allows our team to see the real world impact of our contributions firsthand.

What inspired you to join Airbus? 

My sister has been with Airbus for a number of years, and after hearing so much about the company’s values and culture, I jumped at the chance to join such a supportive environment when a local opportunity arose.

Is there something that surprised you about working for Airbus?

It’s exciting to have a seat at the table during strategy sessions to discuss the future of the Edinburgh programs. It is incredibly rewarding to have the opportunity to help shape the future of the business in my local community.

Explain what you do in simple terms

I focus on fostering relationships with our customers to ensure the high quality work performed by the dedicated Airbus team continues to evolve and align with our customer’s goals. 

How has Airbus supported your career growth or personal development?

Airbus has provided me with new opportunities to stretch my capabilities and lateral thinking. I’ve been able to grow my skills and expand my knowledge base.

How has your career evolved since you joined Airbus?

Although I am in the early stages of my journey with Airbus, it is rewarding to begin making a valuable contribution to this global company.

What’s your most memorable experience at Airbus? Why does it stand out?

My most memorable experience at Airbus so far has been the people; I have found the company culture to be incredibly warm and welcoming at every level.

Is there a specific project or moment you’re particularly proud of? Why?

Contributing to business strategy meetings for the future of our Edinburgh programs has been a point of pride. As a newer member of the team, having a seat at the table and knowing that my voice is heard was a truly defining experience.

What advice would you give to someone starting a career in aerospace?

My advice to someone starting a career in aerospace is to say ‘yes’ to opportunities as they arise, even if they fall outside your comfort zone. It is a great way to build your skill set and can lead to rewarding career paths you may not have previously explored.

What advice would you give to someone considering a career at Airbus?

The beauty of aerospace is the diversity of career paths. Whether you're passionate about engineering, project management or people leadership, there’s something for you!

What would you say to someone who doesn’t think they “fit” in aerospace?

Behind every aircraft launch is a team of dedicated people from various disciplines working together to make that mission a success. 

If you could give one piece of advice, what would it be?

Don’t be afraid to take on new work challenges that may be outside your comfort zone.

What do you appreciate most about Airbus as a workplace?

Airbus is an inclusive and supportive workplace. The culture is professional, warm and welcoming, providing an environment that encourages you to bring your authentic self to work each day. 

Which Airbus value resonates with you, and why?

For me, respect is key to ensuring every voice is heard. I greatly value respect and acknowledgement that everyone has something valuable to contribute.

How does Airbus support you in maintaining work-life balance?

Airbus’ acknowledgement of the fact we have meaningful lives outside the office is a standout aspect of the culture here. The flexibility provided allows me to balance work and life, and truly makes me feel supported. 

What motivates you to keep growing in your career?

I learn something new in every role I undertake. This encourages me to keep going and to make the most of opportunities as they arise.

What’s one message you’d like to share with the next generation of aerospace professionals?

Take pride in the part you play in the team that makes aerospace possible.
