El 24 de noviembre de 2015, el avión de pasillo único que más vende en el mundo, el A320neo, ha recibido su certificación tipo de la Agencia Europea de Seguridad Aérea (EASA) y de la Administración Federal de Aviación (FAA) norteamericana. El avión certificado va equipado con motores Pure Power PW1100G-JM de Pratt & Whitney.
El certificado tipo del A320neo de EASA fue firmado por el director de Certificación de EASA, Trevor Woods, y el de la FAA por Jeffrey Duven, FAA Manager of Transport Airplane Directorate - Aircraft Certification Service. Los certificados tipo se le entregaron al vicepresidente ejecutivo de Ingeniería de Airbus, Charles Champion, y al Chief Engineer del A320neo de Airbus, Pierre-Henri Brousse.
“Este doble sello de aprobación supone un gran logro para Airbus. Reconoce el tremendo trabajo realizado por todos los equipos de Airbus y de Pratt & Whitney, y demuestra que el A320neo cumple todos los requisitos,” ha manifestado Fabrice Brégier, Presidente y CEO de Airbus. “Ahora el A320neo tiene vía libre para su primera entrega y está listo para ofrecer a muchas aerolíneas su perfecta combinación de economía insuperable y extraordinario confort de cabina.”
El A320neo ha completado satisfactoriamente un riguroso programa de certificación que ha sometido a su aeroestructura y sus sistemas a unas pruebas mucho más exigentes que sus límites máximos de diseño con el fin de asegurar que el avión satisface todos los criterios de aeronavegabilidad.
Los tres aviones de ensayos en vuelo equipados con motores Pratt & Whitney llevan acumuladas a plena satisfacción más de 1.070 horas de vuelo en 350 misiones. De estas 1.070 horas, 300 se han realizado con una misma aeronave, en un entorno operativo parecido al de una compañía aérea, con objeto de garantizar la madurez operativa del avión a su entrada en servicio.
El A320neo con motores Pratt & Whitney es la primera variante de la Familia NEO en obtener su certificación tipo. El A320neo equipado con motores CFM será certificado en los próximos meses, y el A321neo y A319neo, en sus dos variantes de motor, recibirán su certificación a continuación.
La Familia A320neo incorpora las tecnologías más avanzadas, incluidos motores de nueva generación y dispositivos Sharklet en la punta de las alas, que juntos proporcionan un ahorro de combustible de más del 15 por ciento desde el primer día, y del 20 por ciento de aquí a 2020 gracias a las nuevas innovaciones de cabina. Lanzado el 1 de diciembre de 2010, el A320neo ofrece a las compañías aéreas la posibilidad de elegir entre motores Pure Power PW1100G-JM de Pratt & Whitney y motores LEAP 1A de CFM International. Con más de 4.300 pedidos cursados por más de 75 clientes desde su lanzamiento en 2010, la Familia A320neo acapara una cuota de mercado del 60 por ciento.
