Vietnam Airlines has selected Airbus to provide Flight Hour Services (FHS) for its new fleet of 14 A350-900s on order. With this contract, Vietnam Airlines becomes the first A350 XWB operator to select Airbus FHS. The agreement, which will run for 12 years, provides an extensive scope including A350 line replaceable units (LRUs), guaranteed spare parts availability through a pool access service at Vietnam Airlines’ main base and selected outstations.
The signature of this FHS agreement took place on the occasion of the arrival of the first A350 XWB for Vietnam Airlines in Hanoi. Mr. Nguyen Tan Dung, Prime Minister of Vietnam and a number of European Ambassadors were present at the ceremony.
“Flight Hour Services for our A350 fleet are an extremely important facilitator for our A350’s entry into service,” said Dr. Pham Ngoc Minh, President and CEO of Vietnam Airlines. “Airbus has demonstrated a consistently high quality service on our fleet. Therefore when it came to the A350, we are building on Airbus’ commitment and ability to ensure the highest performance of our A350 operations from day one.”
Didier Lux, Senior Vice President, Customer Services at Airbus said: “We are very proud that our first A350 FHS agreement is signed between Vietnam Airlines and Airbus.” He adds: “The airline is already benefitting from Airbus FHS for its A330 fleet, and this new FHS contract for the A350 XWB is the proof of their confidence in our services.”
Vietnam Airlines is the world’s second carrier to operate the A350 XWB. The world’s latest generation widebody aircraft joins the airline’s Airbus fleet which currently comprises 49 A320s and 10 A330s.
Airbus FHS contracts have now been selected to cover more than 185 aircraft from the A320, A330, A380 to now the A350 XWB. This new contract reinforces Airbus’ position in the services market.
