Airbus has built a strong and enduring partnership with Kazakhstan over the past 20 years across all its businesses. Having established successful bilateral collaboration based on mutual trust and shared priorities, Airbus strongly values its relationship with its Kazak partners, both civil and military.
Kazakhstan is one of the key markets for Airbus in Central Asia. Airbus is a reliable partner for Kazakhstan collaborating on high-level defence and security projects including military-transport aircraft and earth observation high resolution satellites. Airbus also has a solid presence in the region with its commercial aircraft and corporate jets. Additionally, Airbus has implemented several long-term programmes with Kazakhstan, actively cooperating with local industrial players in defence and space.

Commercial Aircraft in Kazakhstan
Our products & services
Airbus delivered its first aircraft, the A320, to Kazakhstan in 2006 to the national carrier Air Astana. Since then, the Airbus fleet in the region has been steadily growing.
Today more than 50 A320 Family aircraft are operated in the fleets of Air Astana and its low-cost carrier Fly Arystan.
In addition, Airbus Corporate Jets, both single-aisle and wide-body, are well represented in the country with eight aircraft in operation, including the State Air Company Berkut.

Helicopters in Kazakhstan

Airbus Helicopters’ presence in Kazakhstan dates back to 2010 when it established a joint venture with its Kazakh partner Kazakhstan Engineering for the EC145 assembly. Over the years of cooperation, Airbus carried out the transfer of technology, knowledge and competencies to local specialists in the field of assembly and maintenance of Airbus helicopters.
Thus, during the period from 2012 to 2024, about 180 aviation engineers and 100 pilots underwent training and practical training on the types of helicopters EC145/H145, H125, H130. On August 26, 2024, Eurocopter Kazakhstan Engineering LLP was renamed Airbus Helicopters Kazakhstan Engineering (AHKE).

Defence and Space in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan is a market with a big potential for Airbus Defence and Space.
In 2013, the Ministry of Defence of Kazakhstan took the delivery of its first C295. Today, there are 11 C295s operated by the Air Force and Aviation Service of the National Security Committee. In 2021, Kazakhstan ordered two A400Ms. The first aircraft was delivered in December 2024, becoming the cornerstone of the country’s tactical and strategic airlift operations. The second aircraft is scheduled for delivery in 2026.
Kazakhstan is also a growing market for Telecommunications and Earth observation (EO) satellites. Two EO satellites, KazEOSat-1 and KazEOSat-2, were successfully launched in 2014.
