Commercial Operators Awards

Airbus Helicopters, Inc. has developed three awards honoring the achievements of pilots, maintenance technicians and medical aircrews with the company’s rotorcraft in commercial operations. Each is tailored to candidates’ field of expertise, with tiered levels to commemorate professional milestones with Airbus Helicopters rotorcraft.

To help promote a higher level of safety within the air medical industry, the company also has established its Vision Zero Aviation Safety Award – which is open to all Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS) programs and operators.

Information specific to each award – including its criteria, levels and process for qualification – can be found below.

Airbus Helicopters, Inc. Maintenance Technician Award

The Airbus Helicopters, Inc. Maintenance Technician Award has been developed to recognize the experience and responsibility level of those who keep the Airbus Helicopters fleet flying. The award is based on a number of factors, which contribute to the overall experience a Maintenance Technician gains. Qualifying Maintenance Technicians receive a recognition medallion for their tool box or roll away for each level reached.

Award Criteria

  • This award applies to maintenance experience with the Airbus Helicopters, Inc. helicopters.
  • Experience with both current production and earlier Airbus Helicopters, Inc. models is valid.
  • Potential recipients must, as a minimum, be an FAA licensed A&P (Airframe & Powerplant) mechanic.
  • Award levels are based on years, which can be accumulated through actual years of experience as well as added responsibilities See below.

- For each full year of experience maintaining an Airbus Helicopters rotorcraft add: 1 year

- For each completed Airbus Helicopters Inc./Airbus Helicopters factory school add: 1 year

- Those who serve (or have served) as a chief inspector add: 1 year

- Those who are (or have been) a DOM (Director of Maintenance) add: 1 year

Example:

  • The potential recipient has maintained an Airbus Helicopters rotorcraft for 4 years
  • The potential recipient has completed one Airbus Helicopters, Inc. factory maintenance school
  • The potential recipient has an IA rating

Award Levels

5 Years - Airbus Helicopters Certified Technician
10 Years - Airbus Helicopters Senior Technician
15 Years - Airbus Helicopters Master Technician
25 Years - Airbus Helicopters Distinguished Technician

Significant Accomplishment Recognition

Airbus Helicopters, Inc. sincerely believes in the difference Maintenance Technicians can make to the success of your operation. The accomplishments of these professionals, however, often go unnoticed. In addition to the awards program described above, we would like to offer the opportunity to recognize someone who has made a significant maintenance contribution/ accomplishment. Recipients of this special recognition will receive an attractive plaque, suitable for giving at a company awards function, a dinner, etc. To nominate a Maintenance Technician, please either email or call Communications at Airbus Helicopters, Inc.

Airbus Helicopters, Inc. Medical Aircrew Award

The Airbus Helicopters, Inc. Medical Aircrew Award recognizes the dedication of the “medical side” of the aircrew. The award itself is based on missions flown or dispatched. Crew members receive an award pin and certificate for each level reached.

Airbus Helicopters, Inc. offers similar award programs for pilots and maintenance technicians.

Award Criteria

  • Award levels are based on number of missions flown (or dispatched) in an Airbus Helicopters rotorcraft.
  • Flights can be either public relations or medical in nature.
  • Crew members may combine totals if flying for (or having flown for) more than one program.
  • This award is applicable to any member of the medical aircrew:

- Flight Nurses

- Paramedics

- Communications Technicians

- Respiratory Therapists

- Doctors

Airbus Helicopters, Inc. Pilot Award

The Airbus Helicopters, Inc. Pilot Award recognizes flight experience in Airbus Helicopters’ broad line of rotorcraft. The award is based on hours flown, and qualifying pilots receive an award pin and certificate for each level reached.

Award Criteria

  • Award levels are based on number of hours flown in an Airbus Helicopters rotorcraft.
  • Time in both current production and earlier models is valid.
  • Pilots may combine times, if they have experience in more than one Airbus Helicopters model.
  • Hours should be cumulative, beginning with the pilot’s first flight in an Airbus Helicopters rotorcraft.

Airbus Helicopters, Inc. Vision Zero Aviation Safety Award

Airbus Helicopters, Inc. recognizes industry safety leaders with its annual Vision Zero Aviation Safety Award.

As part of our efforts to encourage innovation in the industry, the company contributes up to $10,000 to directly support the future safety efforts of an Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS) program and/or operator which is promoting a higher level of safety in air medical aviation.

The winner of the 2018 Vision Zero Aviation Safety Award was announced during the AMTC Awards Dinner and Banquet in Phoenix, Arizona on Monday, October 22nd, 2018.
