Mike Spears is Vice President of Industry for Airbus Helicopters Inc. He is responsible for all activities related to production, assembly, customization and flight operations support for the multiple aircraft models Airbus Helicopters Inc. delivers in the United States.
As a member of the Airbus Helicopters Industry team, Mike is also tasked with helping to implement worldwide standardized and robust industrial processes to provide agility and reliability in manufacturing.
Mike joined Airbus Helicopters Inc. in 2013, bringing 30 years of helicopter production experience.
Mike began his career as a licensed airframe and power plant mechanic and rose to the position of general manager of the Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. production facility in Troy, Alabama. At Sikorsky, Mike led a team of more than 800 people who produced and delivered U.S. Navy H-60 helicopters and provided modifications and repairs to U.S. and foreign military customers.
He then spent 14 months at Fort Rucker, Alabama, working for Army Fleet Support, a subsidiary of L3, as assistant Field Director at Lowe Army Air Field. In that role, he provided leadership and direction of maintenance for more than 130 H-60 U.S. Army Blackhawk helicopters.
While in Alabama, Mike served on the Governors Board of Aviation Advisors and Board of Advisors for Alabama Aviation College in Ozark, Alabama. Mike’s business education comes from Alabama Aviation & Technical College, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and Troy University.
