 | | | | WELCOME | | | |
to Aero-notes 50, the Airbus newsletter dedicated to Individual Investors,
I hope you and your families are doing well and remain safe in these difficult times.
Since February 13th, when we released our 2019 Full Year Results achieving our guidance with a record 863 aircraft deliveries, the economic landscape has drastically changed.
Aerospace is among the sectors that have been most affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Demand for air travel has collapsed and our customers have reduced capacity and temporarily grounded their fleets. The impact of COVID-19 on our market environment is only partially reflected in our Q1 results, which we disclosed on April 29th. Our strong focus is now on matching production with our customer demand, which is why we are adapting our commercial aircraft production rates downwards. We have also taken measures to strengthen our liquidity to prepare the best we can for a return to normal operations once the situation recovers.
Airbus is leveraging its global resources and mobilising its industrial capabilities to support the fight against COVID-19. We are using our own aircraft and crews in transporting medical equipment, and company employees are working on developing sustainable solutions, including the production of critical medical equipment.
In these times of crisis, we are focused on our resilience as a company to ensure we are well-positioned once the situation improves again.

Thorsten Fischer, Head of Airbus Investor Relations & Financial Communication | | |
