Mark Cousin to write the next chapters of A³

Mark Cousin Will Become New CEO A3 As Of 1 December2018

stablished in May 2015, A³, the advanced projects outpost of Airbus in Silicon Valley, drives projects that aim to disrupt the aerospace industry. As of 1 December 2018, Airbus’ Mark Cousin will succeed Rodin Lyasoff as the Chief Executive Officer of A³. Lyasoff will remain with A³ in an advisory role during the transition period.

Cousin has worked within the Chief Technology Office (CTO) organisation for the last two years and has been a part of the Airbus family since 1998. An accomplished aeronautical leader, he has a solid track record of driving successful and innovative projects for Airbus, including as the Head of the A380, the technical director for the Beluga XL, and currently as the Head of Demonstrators in CTO. Previously, Cousin served as a future projects engineer in the British Aerospace Regional Aircraft. His career experience underscores his understanding of emerging technology as well as his ability to deliver on large, complex projects.

“Silicon Valley remains an incredible source of talent and partners for Airbus,” said Lyasoff, “and A³ has demonstrated its power as a long-term innovation platform that enables Airbus to secure IP, talent, and expertise in new domains. Having served as both a Project Executive and CEO of A³, I am honoured to have been part of this energetic, ambitious, and successful team.”

In the last two years as CEO, we’ve brought about important milestones including Vahana’s first flight, Voom’s expansion and successful transition, and the exploration of new projects in exciting areas such as digital manufacturing, blockchain, and autonomous systems.

- Rodin Lyasoff, Chief Executive Officer of A³

"Each of these represents a unique component of the A³ mission—to help Airbus better understand, explore, and hedge against innovations not yet even visible on the horizon.”

Mark’s ambition and experience are a great fit for A³ as it continues to evolve and strengthen its position in Airbus’ robust innovation ecosystem

- Rodin Lyasoff, Chief Executive Officer of A³

“I’m excited to watch the organisation deliver ever greater value to Airbus and the broader ecosystem under his expert guidance.”

A³ will continue working on innovative projects that leverage the unique talent pool located in Silicon Valley and improve the industry as we know it.
