Brunei is an important customer for Airbus, with the company’s commercial aircraft and helicopters operating with customers in the country.

Commercial Aircraft

Royal Brunei Airlines received the first of its four leased Airbus A320 Family aircraft from CIT Aerospace in August 2003, following a decision by its management to modernise the carrier’s fleet.

Today, the airline has a fleet of two A320ceo that can accommodate a total of 144 passengers - 12 in the Business Class and 132 passengers in the main cabin.

In May 2014, Royal Brunei placed a firm order with Airbus for seven A320neo aircraft under the latest phase of its single-aisle fleet modernisation programme. The airline took delivery of its first A320neo in May 2018. It has since taken delivery of all seven aircraft which form part of its fleet.

These new aircraft feature a premium three class layout with 12 business class seats, 18 economy plus seats and 120 in the main cabin.

Helicopters

Airbus Helicopters first established a presence in Brunei in 1981, when two BO105s were delivered to the Royal Brunei Air Force. Today, the service operates six BO105 helicopters and deploys them on missions including surveillance, air support, VIP transportation as well as search and rescue activities.
