Airbus is supporting U.S. team American Magic – which represents the New York Yacht Club – in its effort to win the 2021 America’s Cup sailing competition.
Airbus and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) have announced the top 10 African tech start-ups that will take part in the latest Airbus Bizlab #Africa4Future accelerator programme. They were selected after an open public pitch event in front of experts, potential investors, the media and other stakeholders in Kenya’s capital city.
Airbus today forged two partnership agreements with two leading U.S. research institutions – the University of Michigan and the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). The agreement was signed at the Paris Air Show by Paul Eremenko (Chief Technology Officer of Airbus), Marc Fischer (Senior Vice-President Flight Physics of Airbus), Professor Alec D. Gallimore (Dean of Engineering at the University of Michigan) and Professor Laurence Jacobs (Georgia Tech’s Acting Dean of Engineering).
Together with the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs’ Crisis and Support Centre (CDCS) the Airbus Foundation sent 7 tons of medical equipment from Toulouse, France to Kathmandu, Nepal using an A350 Airbus test aircraft. The relief equipment, provided by the CDCS, the French Ministry of Health and Visière Solidaire, consisted of masks, protection glasses, respirators as well as antigen tests. The aid will help the Government of Nepal in their management of COVID-19 within the country.
Airbus has doubled down on its response to the COVID-19 crisis in India, delivering more than 36 tonnes of additional medical equipment to the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) and deploying humanitarian flights to move supplies from abroad as well as within the country.
