As the start of the 36th edition of the America’s Cup rapidly approaches, Airbus supports American Magic, the U.S. challenger, representing the historic New York Yacht Club, holder of the trophy from 1851 to 1983.
Airbus is supporting U.S. team American Magic – which represents the New York Yacht Club – in its effort to win the 2021 America’s Cup sailing competition.
Airbus today forged two partnership agreements with two leading U.S. research institutions – the University of Michigan and the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). The agreement was signed at the Paris Air Show by Paul Eremenko (Chief Technology Officer of Airbus), Marc Fischer (Senior Vice-President Flight Physics of Airbus), Professor Alec D. Gallimore (Dean of Engineering at the University of Michigan) and Professor Laurence Jacobs (Georgia Tech’s Acting Dean of Engineering).
The field for the world’s first ever electric aircraft air race is already halfway there with four teams having entered the inaugural Air Race E event to be held in 2020.
Airbus has signed agreements with two airline customers; Frenchbee and SAS Scandinavian Airlines, as well as three Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSP); France’s DSNA (Direction des Services de la Navigation Aérienne), the UK’s NATS and EUROCONTROL to demonstrate the operational feasibility of Airbus’ demonstrator project, fello’fly, for reducing aviation emissions.
Airbus, Air Liquide and VINCI Airports announce a partnership to promote the use of hydrogen and accelerate the decarbonization of the aviation sector
Airbus, Air Liquide and VINCI Airports, three major players in the aviation, hydrogen and airport industries, are working together to promote the use of hydrogen at airports and build the European airport network to accommodate future hydrogen aircrafts. The airport of Lyon-Saint Exupéry (France) will host the first installations as early as 2023. This partnership reflects the three groups' shared ambition to combine their respective expertise to support the decarbonization of air travel.
