Global offshore service provider Babcock International has taken delivery of two H175s. Babcock’s aircraft are the first H175s to be introduced into the southern hemisphere and will be based in Dili, Timor Leste. The new aircraft will be used to transport personnel and provide search and rescue and medevac support in the Timor Sea.
The results of a survey conducted by Helibras with the operators of around 90 Airbus helicopters deployed during the 2016 Rio Olympics and Paralympics showed that the fleet achieved 98% availability. The aircraft were used for security, defence, and as camera platforms.
The German state of Nordrhein-Westfalen (NRW) has now become the second customer to receive the H145 in police configuration. On 7 September 2016, the local minister of interior Ralf Jäger handed over the first of 6 H145s to the Dusseldorf police squadron. The helicopter squadron averages around 2,000 missions a year.
Airbus Helicopters’ new 7-ton class H175 helicopter now counts Denmark and Mexico among its countries of operation, increasing its total to five countries, with operations already underway in the Netherlands, Scotland and Ghana.
