VRM Switzerland and Airbus Helicopters work together to qualify under EASA regulations the world’s first H125 virtual reality simulator
EASA, VRM Switzerland and Airbus Helicopters have officially opened the door to new standards in helicopter pilot training by qualifying an Airbus Helicopters H125 flight training device (FTD) Level 3 with Virtual Reality (VR) technology at Helitrans in Norway. This training device is approved by Airbus Helicopters and meets FTD Level 3 requirements. It will be used for pilot training and will provide training credits.

Second ocean-monitoring satellite completes environmental tests
The "Copernicus Sentinel-6" mission is already delivering high-precision measurements of the topography of ocean surfaces through the first of two satellites, named “Sentinel-6 Michael Freilich”, launched in November 2020 and Airbus has just completed the environmental test campaign for the second satellite, Sentinel-6B. It will now be returned to its home base at Airbus’ satellite integration centre in Friedrichshafen (Germany) to make the final touches to the spacecraft.

MetOp-SG-B weather satellite: Scatterometer flies through tests
The flight model of the Scatterometer Antenna Subsystem (SAS) of the MetOp Second Generation meteorological satellites has been officially delivered after four months of extensive testing at the Airbus facility in Madrid. It will now be transferred to Airbus in Friedrichshafen (Germany) where it will be integrated into the satellite along with the other instruments.

Sentinel 5P: a breath of fresh air

Airbus-built MetOp-A weather satellite retires after 15 years of operations
After 15 years of successful operations ESA´s/Eumetsat´s weather satellite MetOp-A ,which was built in the satellite centres of Airbus Defence and Space at Toulouse (France) and Friedrichshafen (Germany), has now retired. Launched on 19 October 2006, MetOp-A has tripled its planned lifetime and has become a game changer in contributing to weather forecasting and climate research.
