“At Airbus I found the career I always had in mind. From the very start, I was exposed to women in the business that are confident and generous with their time and knowledge. This inspired me deeply and I could never be more grateful to have meet such incredible women managers who showed me the way to a great career path.” – says Léa when asked what makes her so enthusiast about working at Airbus.
Léa’s story is the one of a strong affinity with the Airbus culture, especially because she had the opportunity to be inspired by exceptional women along her career path.
While finishing her Master's degree, MSc International Purchasing at KEDGE Business School Léa started her career in 2011 with an internship in Procurement Operations. She then was selected for an apprenticeship programme that allowed her to also work in Germany for a while. In 2013 Léa was offered a position as Retrofit Procurement Manager in Toulouse. Her eager to travel the world and grow professionally led her to apply for a VIE and she obtained a position as Head of Region Assistant for the Asia/Pacific Region in Singapore at Airbus Avionics.
“I love that I can work with great colleagues and teams around the world to achieve common goals by all joining forces throughout our different jobs and tasks. I feel part of a big family driven by the same vision. And this is what motivates me the most and gives me the energy to carry on.” – says Léa.
During her stay at Singapore, Léa cherishes the time when her manager entrusted her to lead a call for tender to source for a new repair center in South East Asia for their radomes. She had the opportunity to determine which specifications was needed, based on their needs. And to do this, she got the chance to travel around Asia and visited several repair centers together with the Lead Procurement Manager from Toulouse.
“It was a huge opportunity for me and challenging, but overall I could not be more grateful to my manager for having given me this opportunity. Having studied Procurement, my dream was to actually lead a call for tender and understand all the aspects, methodology through Airbus lens and live the project from A to Z. And thanks to him, I did it!” – says Léa with sparkles in her eyes.
Today Léa has a very good intuition and a deep knowledge in Procurement activities and has now been appointed Head of Procurement Operations Equipment and Systems A220 at Airbus Canada, leading a strong team along the challenges and goals to achieve. She did not hesitate to express her admiration for the women working at Airbus. “I hope I will be able to inspire young women and students starting their career in aerospace. I was inspired by strong talented souls when I started and I would like to do the same for the future generations”.
