I will never forget the immense sense of satisfaction I felt when, after years of incessant work and challenges, the team obtained the Type Certificate for A220 Family aircrafts.

Charles-Alexis always had a strong interest in Aeronautics and decided to complete his studies in the field. With a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master in Aerospace Engineering, both held at the University of Sherbrooke in Quebec, Canada, Charles-Alexis started his career working on the A220 certification and development on the Engineering hydraulic integration team and then moved as group lead for the A220 High Lift integration team in 2016. As part of his role, Charles-Alexis is currently in the development process to become a certification Design Approval Designee as part of the Airbus Canada Design Approval Organization.

“Today’s system engineers must have the technical know-how, but also be able to communicate, collaborate and work well in a team. The high level of integration and complexity of modern A/C systems required a high level of exchange and different engineering disciplines input to develop and modify existing and new designs. This creates a really dynamic and interesting work environment. And this is exactly what I was looking for when applying at Airbus: the right environment and openness to bring up my ideas and communicate them to receive constructive feedback and develop innovative solutions together with the support of the management and colleagues to achieve our targets.” – says Charles-Alexis when asked what was the main driver that led him to work in this industry.

Charles-Alexis loves to foresee his future and he sees himself evolving at Airbus, particularly with the ambition of contributing to a more sustainable and innovative aerospace industry. “When I think about what I want to do in the coming years is to be constantly involved in the design and product evolution of an aircraft and making it even safer and respectful of our planet.” – he says. “I will never forget the immense sense of satisfaction I felt when, after years of incessant work and challenges, the team obtained the Type Certificate for A220 aircrafts.” – he says with pride.

To any future candidate, Charles-Alexis would like to say that whenever choosing a company to work for, there are five essential conditions to keep in mind: “Choose a company that inspires you, that is forward-thinking, where to invest your time, knowledge, and experience because you know that they will be investing in you. Last but not least, to find a product that you feel passionate about, because it will never feel like working a single day in your life!” – Charles-Alexis concludes.

Aside from work, Charles-Alexis is a wanderlust explorer and practises outdoor activities with colleagues and friends!
