Strong presence in the U.S.

Airbus demonstrates a strong presence across the country with sites in Virginia, Alabama, Kansas, Florida, Colorado and Washington D.C.

Commercial aircraft production site in Mobile, Alabama

To meet the increasing aircraft demand, Airbus opened its first commercial aircraft production site in the United States in 2015. The U.S. Manufacturing Facility in Mobile, Alabama is a $600 million, 53-acre site that produces A320 Family aircraft

With a partnership between Airbus and Bombardier cemented in mid-2018, Mobile also is where the final assembly line for A220 Family aircraft destined for U.S. markets is located – further strengthening Airbus’ presence in the United States and the overall U.S. aerospace industry.

A second A320 Family assembly line was added in Mobile in 2025, adding 1,000 jobs and growing the Airbus facility footprint there to 2.5 million square feet.

Engineering Centers in Wichita and Mobile

In 2002, Airbus opened its first U.S. engineering facility, in Wichita, Kansas. Housed at Wichita State University’s Innovation Center, the site employed some 250 engineers and support staff who specialize in aerostructure design as well as performance analysis of aircraft primary structures, such as wings and fuselages, for all major Airbus products.

A second engineering center opened in Mobile, Alabama in 2007, and is engaged in aircraft cabin design for the entire range of Airbus commercial aircraft products. In recent years, the site has expanded its capabilities to include an aftermarket upgrades department, cabin reconfigurations and service engineering team, helping to grow the site employment to more than 250 people.
