DAY 48

DAY 48

HEAR WHAT FUTURE ENGINEERS HAVE TO SAY

Airbus Little Engineers programme inspires the pioneers of tomorrow

Who will be the pioneers of the future? Who will embody the spirit of innovation and shape the future of aerospace?

From the moment Airbus Africa and Middle East launched Airbus Little Engineer in 2012, the programme has sought to answer this question, inspiring the youth of today to be the pioneers of tomorrow.

Speaking at an Airbus Little Engineer workshop at the Bahrain Airshow in 2016, His Excellency Mohammed Thamer Al-Kabi, Undersecretary for Civil Aviation Affairs of Bahrain, expressed the reason behind his support of the programme: “We count on our youth to contribute towards the nation’s growth vision.”

After moving under Airbus Foundation’s umbrella, Airbus Little Engineer has connected with students across the world.

Airbus Little Engineer uses aerospace to inspire students and spark their interest in STEM topics. Three workshops, based on A380 assembly, space exploration and the humanitarian life cycle, help students to practice their soft skills such as critical thinking and collaboration through robotics and programming.

The aim is to teach young people not only how these technologies shape our daily lives, but that they themselves can shape these technologies.

See how young people have been inspired by the programme:

Resulting from a partnership between Airbus Foundation and The Little Engineer organisation, the programme has reached over 7,000 students from more than 24 countries across the Middle East, Asia, Europe and Africa.

Jadesola Adedeji, the founder of educational organisation STEM METS Resources who works in partnership with Airbus Little Engineer, said “We want nothing more than for children in Nigeria to have access to innovative and alternative means of learning… creating an environment where STEM education will be embraced and enhanced in our society.”

There are now plans to expand into South America, to inspire even more children to focus on STEM studies and pursue the dream to become the engineers and innovators of the future.
