FLY THE FLAG FOR DIVERSITY

Diversity and inclusion drive our creativity and progress

The Airbus story began with a bold collaboration between four countries to accelerate progress in the aviation industry, helping to make flight accessible for more people across the globe.

Ever since this moment Airbus has been bringing people together – to create ambitious new ideas, share skills and improve lives.

Today, Airbus represents a global community of more than 133,000 people. Hailing from more than 130 countries, together we are One Airbus.

We believe that bringing people together from many social and cultural backgrounds, and creating a working environment that is inclusive of everybody, helps us to be more creative and do a better job for our customers – reflecting the diversity of the world we live in and the customers we serve.

Many thousands of Airbus team members are involved in groups which aim to drive change, support and learn from each other, and inspire others to make the industry more diverse.

In 2014, Balance For Business was created as a federating umbrella network for all these employee initiatives – which today include women’s groups, LGBTQ, cognitive, cultural diversity and beyond. For the 6,000 plus members across Airbus, the aim is simple: to harness the power of our unique stories in order to drive inclusion.

In 2017, for example, women involved in the network ensured that adapted clothing for pregnant women is available at Airbus Final Assembly Lines in the UK. In 2018, programmes run by Balance For Business volunteers reached over 1,000 girls, providing the inspiration that will help to close the aerospace gender gap in future generations.

The heart of Balance For Business at Airbus is ensuring that the voices of employees are heard. So here are some unique perspectives from some of the people who make Airbus what it is today:
