Zuraida joined the Airbus Family in July 2015 as Senior Executive Planning at Airbus Helicopters Malaysia, a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) site.

“My role was to do forecast planning of the local contracted aircraft specifically based on airworthy documentation and maintenance planning side, while interacting mainly with internal various department in AHM, partly with customers and local authority. From a performance point of view, I really appreciate that at Airbus you have the trust and support throughout your career. I value that I can steer my own direction in the way I want to trace my path in the company,” says Zuraida from Malaysia.

“At the end of the day, customers are people. What I find most satisfying from my role is interacting with the customers and understanding their satisfaction."

Over the years at Airbus, Zuraida has held different roles related to the MRO Planning, and today she is the Head of the Program & Planning department.

Her current role is a combination of MRO planning and project management. On one hand, Zuraida manages and drumbeats the MRO Local & Regional project. This includes every element of the project to guarantee her team delivers on time, with the right cost and meeting safety & quality standards of Airbus. On the other hand, she attends to customers’ satisfaction, feedback, complaints, and others relate to customer support & services.

In her job, Zuraida finds meaning in the interpersonal exchanges with the customer. “At the end of the day, customers are people. What I find most satisfying from my role is interacting with the customers and understanding their satisfaction. Whatever issues or obstacles we may find, we take it as an opportunity to improve and solve them. In MRO, we are really appreciated by the customers on the support and services that Airbus provided and we put them at our first level. The integrity is always coming back to safety, controlling the costs and delivering on time.”

As for a memorable moment in Zuraida’s experience during her first year in Airbus, she stands out getting a helicopter off the ground after two years of difficulties during inspections – “I had an opportunity to lead a project with a wonderful team together with me; managing a Re-Built of aircraft which having difficulty in landing. Also we had to follow customer and local authority requirements and do a very in-depth inspection up to the main structure of the aircraft. At the end of the day, with the company and customer support, we succeeded to fly this aircraft back in the air. This was a very special experience for me in MRO world."

“You will need to be extra creative and always think out of the box for any solution."

Zuraida’s advice for future newcomers? “Do not expect to be entering into a company that is “spoon-feeding” you. You will need to be extra creative and always think out of the box for any solution. Rather, at Airbus, you find the methods, procedures and environment in place for you to manage yourself and find your way of doing things."

"My recommendation for students out there is - if you want to get experience in a real working environment, at Airbus, whatever location and country you will be based, you have the chance to learn about multiple cultures from different regions, ways of working and fields that complement your job & your career satisfaction.
