Are you looking for a 6 months internship project? Would you like to discover the work of a Project Engineer? Then apply here! We are looking forward to you joining us at the Laboratory for Materials & Processes of AIRBUS Helicopters in Donauwörth, Germany.
Within Airbus Helicopters – Laboratory for Materials & Processes – the department is responsible for developing methods & tools for both Non Destructive Testing and Manufacturing Process Simulation. We have interfaces to the Design Office and Production and support product development directly or through R&T projects. This internship position is opened within the Manufacturing Process Simulation team.

Tasks & accountabilities
In the framework of this job, you will explore how simulation can contribute in an improved understanding of the robustness of manufacturing process chains. Here the focus will be on simulating the sequence of processing steps for isothermal Resin Transfer Moulding.
Your task shall cover:
  • Data collection and mapping of manufacturing process-chain using lean-management concepts
  • Model conceptualization & building in Anylogic as software tool for Discrete Event Simulations
  • Model verification & validation using available manufacturing data
  • Play the “What If” game to evaluate different scenarios, e.g. introducing other product families or failure & maintenance, of the industrial system
  • Presentation of simulation activity & results to relevant internal audience.

Required skills

We are looking for candidates that are/offer:
  • Enrolled student (m/f) within Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar field of study
  • Familiar with lean-management concepts such as Value Stream Mapping and Product Family Matrix
  • Experienced with Discrete Event Simulation tools (preferably Anylogic)
  • Fundamental understanding of manufacturing processes, especially composite manufacturing
  • Languages: English: fluent; German: proficient
  • You are a good team player, have good communication skills, and are able to work independently
