Training and development
All employees have access to a range of opportunities with tailored training programmes, regular reviews and specialist career paths. It’s a two-way process: we believe that both the company and employee should take joint responsibility for career development.
Each year, Airbus employees spend some 190,000 days on activities aimed at maximising their skills and knowledge. Programmes cover everything from financial administration and IT, to leadership and change management, to languages and intercultural awareness.
Competence management
We use a trans-national and cross-functional competence management approach to ensure consistency across the organisation. This benchmark process defines the requirements of every Airbus position, helping managers when they need to recruit or plan someone’s next steps. It also clarifies what is expected of each employee from a competence point of view.
The Airbus Key Competences (AKCs), deemed as critical by our Executive Committee, include composites design and manufacture, architecture, manufacturing engineering and supply chain management. Hundreds of actions have been put in place ranging from new training programmes and career paths, to state-of-the-art knowledge management and expertise transfer solutions. In fact, 40% of all training hours are spent on AKCs.
