Innovation Cell

Innovation is one of the four pillars of the Airbus 2020 Vision. In order to transition from spontaneous invention towards a dedicated structure able to foster innovation, the Airbus Executive Committee created the Airbus Innovation Cell in early 2010. It has the mission to discover and realise game-changing innovations far beyond current products and services for the benefit of all Airbus stakeholders.
The Airbus Innovation Cell is designed to take the leading position at the fore-front of innovation by focusing on selected strategic challenges and emerging opportunities, complemented by an extended network operation.

The Airbus Innovation Cell is:

• Based on new developments and business models which are not necessarily technology driven
• Organised into small and agile projects with people from multidisciplinary background, supported by specialised teams
• A platform to receive and develop innovative ideas from the Airbus community and beyond

The Airbus Innovation Cell is a member of the nascent EADS network. It plays a pivotal role for the Airbus Innovation Alliance, which is shared among existing activities in e.g. R&T, Future Projects, Business Nursery etc., accommodating and implementing the concept of ‘Distributed Innovation’ to support the international Airbus landscape. The ‘Innovators’ will be part of the Airbus Innovation Cell Innovator pool in India.

Role:

As a part of the global Innovation team, the Innovators are expected to display a high degree of initiative, technical acumen, business judgement and networking skills to propose, develop and demonstrate innovative concepts and ideas consistent with Airbus Vision 2020. The role involves an ability to generate new ideas, demonstrate feasibility of the concept and push the implementation, in collaboration with other team members / functions within the Airbus global organization. The candidates may be required to travel both within India and to various location of Airbus in Europe.

Educational qualifications:

- First class Masters degree in Engineering from a reputed institution in India /abroad in any of the following disciplines: electrical/ electronics, Telecommunications, computer science aeronautics, mechanical, industrial design, or related disciplines

Technical Requirements (Essential):
   
- Strong engineering fundamentals
- Experience in building and testing prototypes in lab
- Proven ability to generate innovative ideas and translate them into proof-of-concept demos
- Excellent communication skills  (verbal  and written)  in  English.
- Familiarity with any of the high level programming languages

Technical Requirements (Desirable):

- Familiarity with toll-gate process for product development
- Networking with speciality vendor base for prototyping
- Knowledge of Intellectual Property (IP) searches /landscaping
- Knowledge/ keen interest in the Aviation Industry
- Knowledge of German or French will be an asset
- Entrepreneurial flair or experience of working in a start-up

- Advanced engineering degree from a reputed institution in India /abroad in any of the following disciplines: electrical/ electronics, Telecommunications, computer science aeronautics, mechanical, engineering design, or related disciplines. Post-graduate management degree in technology/product management/ innovation will be an asset

Technical Requirements:

- Minimum of 8+ years experience in any of the following industries: aviation, telecom, automobile, oil & gas, energy or related
- Experience in product management and/or services offering with extensive customer interaction in high tech industry setting
- Proven experience of re-thinking business models, process innovation
- Entrepreneurial flair or experience of working in a start-up is preferred
- Excellent command over both written and spoken English. Additional knowledge of German or French will be an asset
- Active in professional  networks for technology, innovations and start-ups
