FLIGHT OPERATIONS ANALYSIS ENGINEER

Job Code: FOP (to be mentioned in the subject line)

About Flight Operations Analysis (FOA):
In the Airbus Flight Test environment, the Flight Operations Analysis (FOA) activity uses an IT and software analysis environment to analyze aggregate airline flight recordings. The daily processing of thousands of flight recordings produce graphical and statistical outputs used to improve aircraft design and support airlines to improve their flight safety operations. Currently, FOA has partnerships with 25 airlines. Analysis topics are either airline selected operations and safety issues or subjects aimed at better understanding the use of aircraft in service.

WHAT IS FOA:
-    Analysis of >1,500,000 flights (normal operation flight recordings) from multiple Airlines.
-    An in-depth analysis capability, beyond today’s typical flight data monitoring methods.
-    Ability for Airlines to benchmark themselves against validated reference criteria applied to a growing set of worldwide fleet data.
-    Use of protected processes for data exchanges with formal commitments and respect for confidentiality requirements.
-    New innovative visualization methods for analysis of flight operational subjects
-    Support to airlines during their training and/or procedure updates, pilot briefings, and   Management briefings. Where applicable, analysis results will be used to provide operational and training recommendations to multiple airlines.

Main Responsibilities:
•    Collect and manage the storage of all received airline flight data recordings.
•    Decode, process, and validate the flight data recordings from DFDR (Digital Flight Data Recorder) and DAR (Direct Access Recorder) collected from Airbus operators around the world.
•    Develop automated analysis algorithms with computer programming (C+, C#) and database (e.g. SQL) querying techniques.
•    Apply mathematical analysis techniques (statistical methods) to the analysis projects.
•    Apply enhanced parameter analysis methods (smoothing, filtering and creation of computed parameters).
•    Using dedicated flight data analysis and visualisation software
o     From the generated query results - Analyse thousands of Airline flight recordings.
o    Validate analysis algorithms, create analysis outputs and statistical reports and support the creation of written analysis reports.
•    Write and deliver analysis reports dealing with airline flight operations and Airbus aircraft systems and handling behaviour.
•    Contribute to the continuous evolving efficiency of the FOA activity through ideas and experience on Airline flight operations, analytic methods, statistical representations, IT architectures, databases, graphical visualisations, Project Management.
•    Participate in technical discussions / meetings / presentations aimed at improved understanding of the analysis scope and delivery of analysis results.
