Partnership colleges and universities
Airbus works with a number of colleges and universities to provide the necessary training for our apprentices.
BROUGHTON
Deeside College in Connah's Quay, North Wales
Glyndwr University in Wrexham, North Wales
Bangor University in Bangor, North West Wales
FILTON
University of the West of England (UWE) in Filton, Bristol
Our Training Centres are based on-site at Broughton and Filton. Trainers from these centres visit you at college on a weekly basis during your first year and are responsible for you during your placements in your second and third years. Our trainers have years of experience at Airbus and you will be assigned to a trainer as soon as you join us. They are there to help you with any issues – work or study based – that you might have during your time as an apprentice.
Learning outside the workplace
During their first year, all UK apprentices and selected apprentices from France and Germany, spend a week on an Outward Bound course in the Lake District. Activities include orienteering, raft building and mountaineering, as well as planning and presenting. It’s a way of getting to grips with the values that will help in their future development and career.
Intercultural awareness among employees is essential to our business. And so all our apprentices join our Intercultural Competencies Programme, which offers specific training and the chance to apply for a placement at one of our sites in Europe.
What’s more, apprentices are encouraged to act as Airbus representatives at a wide variety of events such as Airshows, careers events and schools liaison activities.
For more information please download the Apprenticeships brochure.
