Hamburg

Long-time a star in the network of Airbus production facilities, the airfield at Finkenwerder, Hamburg has also become an essential element in the broader spread of training support.
Airbus training facilities have gradually expanded from the initial centre at Toulouse, set up in 1972, to Miami in 1986 and then in Beijing in 1996. Hamburg was selected to specialise in maintenance training with the opening of a new facility for in May 2004.
Maintenance engineers and mechanics worldwide can access a wide range of training such as full technical JAR 66 courses for light and heavy aircraft maintenance, lessons for ramp and transit agents and general familiarisation courses. The Airbus training centre in Hamburg also offers training for its own technical teams.
Designed right from the start to incorporate the latest in training technology, the training centre has become the showcase for the new Airbus maintenance training programme called Airbus Active learning and Competence focused Training (AACT). The A320 Family of aircraft was selected as the lead fleet for this new training process and Hamburg was chosen because the A318/A319/A321 production line is here. This close proximity gives the trainees a practical insight and contributes to the overall quality of Airbus courses.
The centre covers approximately 5,000 square meters on two floors. There are three classrooms equipped with 2D Maintenance and Flight Training Devices (MFTDs); in addition there are three 3D MFTDs.
