The A380 is appearing in full Singapore Airlines livery for the first time at Asian Aerospace.
A team of 110 people worked for 54 hours within a three-day slot to apply removable decals prior to the aircraft leaving Toulouse for Singapore. Although the aircraft featured Singapore Airlines logos when it visited Singapore in November 2005, this will be the first appearance in the complete airline livery.
Between 1,100 and 1,200 square metres of decals will be used, representing about 1,200 individual decals. A varnish is applied over the decals to ensure they stay in place during flight and to round off the edges, which maintains the aircraft’s aerodynamics.
The A380, which remains on static display throughout the show, also takes part in the daily flight displays and is expected to draw the crowds.
Once the show is over, the decals will be removed over two days when the aircraft returns to Toulouse.
