The A330's growing presence in India
This month's inauguration of Kingfisher Airlines' A330-200 service on its Bangalore-London route illustrates the A330's increasing role in expanding international services from the fast-growing Indian travel market.
Kingfisher will have five A330-200s in service by the end of 2008, serving additional markets such as Singapore and Hong Kong.
Another Indian carrier, Jet Airways, is the country's largest A330 operator, with 10 A330 aircraft in service - plus another two scheduled for delivery later in 2008. Its A330-200 route network is growing to include service from Delhi to Brussels and onto Toronto and New York; Delhi and Mumbai to Dubai; as well as Mumbai-Hong Kong and Chennai-Kuala Lumpur
Air India also operates two A330-200s on services from India to East Asia and Europe.
When deliveries of all firm orders are completed, nearly 50 A330s will be operated by Indian carriers, including 12 of the new Airbus A330-200Fs cargo aircraft with Flyington Freighters.
