New A320neo orders and commitments announced during the Dubai Airshow provided an opportunity for customers to speak about why they selected the enhanced, new engine option version of Airbus’ best-selling A320 jetliner family:
Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways CEO, announcing the airline’s firm contract for 50 A320neo aircraft, plus 30 options:
“Flying on our short- and medium-haul routes, A320neos are expected to provide significant operational savings – carrying heavier payloads, flying farther and operating with less emissions that current single-aisle aircraft.
The order reinforces Qatar Airways’ commitment to the single-aisle Airbus family, having chosen it to form the backbone of our future single-aisle fleet.”
ALAFCO Chairman Ahmed Al Zabin at the signing event marking this leasing and finance company’s signature for 50 A320neo Family aircraft, with options for 30 more:
“What brought us here today is the ingenuity of Airbus in designing and conceiving the innovative A320neo aircraft.
ALAFCO is very excited about offering the A320neo to our leasing customers, who will benefit from its lower fuel consumption – in addition to substantial reductions in noise and environmental emissions – all while achieving a high level of dispatch reliability.”
Stephen Hannahs, CEO and Group Managing Director of the Aviation Capital Group aircraft lessor, outlining the firm order for 30 A320neo Family aircraft:
“I think the new, very fuel efficient A320neo will revolutionize air travel around the globe.
We are delighted to be a member of the Airbus family, and to be a customer of Airbus. We’ve had great success with our existing airline customers who operate the A320, and look forward to long and very mutually-profitable relationship with Airbus through our A320neo aircraft.”
Spirit Airlines’ President and CEO Ben Baldanza, discussing the carrier’s memorandum of understanding for 45 A320neo aircraft and 30 A320s:
“Over the past five years, Spirit has been the highest margin operator of all commercial airlines in the United States, and we been maintaining profitability through a very volatile macro-economic set. The A320 family gives us the flexibility, efficiency and reliability we need to make this happen, so we’re very proud and excited to expand our partnership with Airbus through more A320 Family airplanes into the next decade."
