Admission forms for the next school year at the Airbus Lycée are available for one month and must be returned before 20th April. Forms can be downloaded from the Lycée’s website: http://www.lyceeairbus.com/ or requested by telephone: +33 5 61 93 55 11.
Admission tests will take place on Thursday 3rd May and eligible candidates will have a motivation interview in June. Following these tests, 120 young girls and boys will be selected for a “Bac Professionnel” training, in one of the following trades:
- Computerised mechanical production
- Airframe mechanic
- Airframe electrics.
This training is open to students with a minimum level of French « 3ème », with strong motivation for teamwork and working on aircraft. After their “Bac Pro” (vocational Baccalauréat) diplomas prepared over three years - in a school context for the first two years and then with apprentice status for the last year, the best students can further pursue their studies with an aeronautical “BTS” (Brevet de Technicien Supérieur - higher vocational training certificate), prepared over two years with an apprenticeship contract.
Founded over sixty years ago, the Airbus Lycée is one of the few company owned technical colleges in France. It trains some 300 young people each year, in four trades in the aeronautical sector. The training provided consists of “Bac Pro” and BTS.
The students at the Airbus Lycée are immersed in the heart of the Airbus right from day one: the classrooms and workshops are located in the Airbus Saint-Eloi plant, and the students benefit from the same working conditions as their future colleagues: corporate culture and values, operating rules, meals in the company restaurant. The Airbus Lycée is contractually associated with the French Ministry of Education. Teaching is free of charge and the students are entitled to state grants, in accordance with the regulations in force.
Around one hundred students graduate each year from the Airbus Lycée. In 2011, 95% of them were hired by Airbus or by its aeronautical partners.
