Metron Aviation is chosen for Australian Collaborative Decision Making programme

Airbus ProSky subsidiary Metron Aviation has been selected by Airservices Australia, the Australian government-owned corporation that oversees airspace management in the country, for the next phase of its Collaborative Decision Making (CDM) programme to optimize international flight operations in the nation’s airspace.

The programme seeks to enable improved efficiency for international air travel to Australia by targeting an arrival time that balances air traffic demand with capacity, through engagement in global Collaborative Decision Making processes – the joint initiative to improve airport operational efficiency through increased information exchange between key stakeholders.

U.S.-based Metron Aviation will contribute its proven Concept Engineering methodology, which engages all stakeholders – including international aircraft operators, air navigation service providers, airport authorities and others in the aviation industry – in operational concept and procedure development. 

This new announcement follows Airservices Australia’s successful 2012 deployment of Metron Harmony – an advanced Integrated Air Traffic Flow Management (I-ATFM) system – that has improved the safety and capacity of the Australian airspace and resulted in significant savings for airline operators.
