First customer in the Americas to choose Airbus’ automated inventory management
Airbus has been chosen by AVEOS, a full-service maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider headquartered in Montreal, to implement the ‘Airbus Managed Inventory’ (AMI) service. AMI will ensure the replenishment of Airbus proprietary parts at AVEOS’ facilities, utilizing an automated inventory management system.
The AMI service, which underlines Airbus’ innovative strategy in offering customised services based on latest industry standards, captures material consumption information in real time and automatically triggers the replenishment process within the agreed inventory levels.
“This is the beginning of a new chapter in what will be a mutually beneficial relationship between AVEOS and Airbus,” said AVEOS’ Vice President Supply Chain Management, Jean Clermont. “AMI will automate our procurement process thus significantly reducing our indirect ordering costs, as well as reducing our inventory holding costs. The service will be applied across our facilities and will ultimately benefit our customers.”
Didier Lux, EVP Customer Services at Airbus said: “We are pleased that AVEOS has chosen the Airbus Managed Inventory solution which is tailor-made for supply chain requirements of our industry.” He added: “We are confident this will contribute to reducing its aircraft maintenance turnaround times whilst achieving high on-shelf availability at optimum inventory levels.”
Airbus is the world’s leading aircraft manufacturer offering the most modern, innovative and efficient family of passenger airliners on the market, ranging in capacity from 100 to more than 500 seats. Airbus is an EADS company.
