An enhanced work environment for Airbus in the UK

Dubbed the Airbus Aerospace Park project, this redeveloped location will provide an enhanced working environment, with expected features of the 12-acre facility to include modern office space and an auditorium – along with the refurbished Pegasus House historic office building. 

Core Airbus activities in the Filton area include design, engineering and support work for the wings, fuel systems and landing gear utilised on the company’s aircraft. Teams also are involved in systems, structures, and aerodynamics research – supported by development and test facilities.

"Airbus and its supply chain provide goods and services worth nearly £1.5 billion pounds annually to the UK economy, and provide over 135,000 direct and indirect jobs,” said Vince Cable, the UK’s Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills. “This new multi-million-pound campus in Filton will help secure thousands of advanced engineering jobs in the South West, which is a key region for the UK aerospace industry."

With a budget for the project now approved, the proposal and designs are to be finalised and submitted to the South Gloucestershire District Council for this governing body’s approval. Airbus will hold consultation sessions with local stakeholders in the coming months, and hopes to begin construction in early 2012. The site for the new engineering and technology park has been owned by Airbus since 2004.
